Size: 26,220 SF
The newly completed classroom facility for S.H.A.R.P. (School Home Adjustment Reinforcement Program) provides permanent classroom space for children with special behavioral issues. This K-12 facility and campus works with these children to foster the development of appropriate coping skills. The curriculum helps students develop skills needed to better function at home and in society.
The facility houses 12 typical classrooms, campus administration, media center, a sensory classroom, and A.B.I.L. classroom. The toilet facilities also contain showers and laundry rooms needed for the additional student care. The $3M building required an additional $1.8M in site development costs for access roads, portable classrooms relocations, utilities, sidewalks, fencing, and playgrounds.
The building utilizes several energy efficient features such as 14 SEER electric packaged mechanical units, high R-value insulation, and roofing system with a high Solar Reflective Index to decrease heat absorption. Windows are all shaded or screened from direct sunlight and employ Low-E double glazing. The roof structure and electrical room have been designed to accept 3,800 SF of future solar photovoltaic panels.
