Rice Elementary
Location: San Carlos, AZ
Owner: San Carlos USD
Size: 42,012 SF

This addition completed the San Carlos Rice Campus 15-year redevelopment. The project entails a new single-story administration building and a two-story, 23-classroom building featuring preschool through 6th grade classrooms and traditional special education classrooms. The second floor of the classroom building features an open study area with casual furniture and operable walls that can divide the space into multiple arrangements for complete flexibility of the space.

The project entailed modifications and additions to secure the entire campus perimeter with raised fencing and electronic card access at all entry points. All entry doors for classroom buildings, classrooms and the administration building are electronically controlled with a one-of-a-kind system developed specifically for the San Carlos Unified School District. The administration building handles all public access to the campus.
