Mountain Elden Middle School
Location: Flagstaff, AZ
Owner: Flagstaff Unified School District
Size: 45,000 SF

New two-story classroom buildings added to the existing Mount Elden Middle School campus for the Flagstaff Unified School District.
Materiality and finishes were carefully vetted to ensure ease of maintenance and longevity within the building, as well as to
enhance the existing zones within the building i.e. Alpine, Apex and Heartwood. Each zone was branded to portray their
presence within the building and make for ease of wayfinding. Within each zone, flexible break out spaces were created to
expand learning opportunities out of the classroom and into the usable square footage of the improved circulation. The views
from this control point were created for open visibility and security throughout the entire space while providing the linear square
footage required for print media and appropriate furniture. Several classrooms, student areas and bathrooms were remodeled
to meet current ADA Codes.
