Specification Writer

We are seeking an Architectural Specifications Content Writer/Editor to join our firm. If you have an interest in translating Architectural drawings into the written instructions for product procurement and installation, and you have the winning combination of architectural training, construction product knowledge and technical/grammatical writing skills necessary for success in this role, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
  • Work in a collaborative role on the Specifications Team as the primary content expert. Each project spec team to include: the Specification Administrator, the Content Writer/Editor, a Project Manager, a Jr. Project Manager and the QAQC Reviewer.
  • Contribute content direction/support for every project’s specification development through each phase of the design process (SD to CA).
  • Conduct technical specification research, and provide written content and editing support to more than a dozen Project Managers for a variety of project types (schools, commercial buildings, tenant improvements, etc.)
  • Mentor/coach junior architectural staff to learn specification development and methodology.
  • Support the Specifications Administrator in maintaining a current office master library by reviewing and implementing AIA Masterspec quarterly updates
  • Follow the Specification Administrator’s project prioritization timeline.
  • Create supplementary specification sections as necessitated by projects in progress.
 
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience writing commercial architectural specifications
  • Familiarity/experience with AIA MasterSpec or CSI MasterFormat including Division 00 and 01
  • Must have a broad knowledge of construction products and how they are implemented within the building
  • Knowledge of Deltek eSpecs a plus
  • Current or former licensed Architect within the United States.
  • Ability/willingness to work remote or hybrid (in-office/remote)
  • Microsoft Office applications proficiency
  • Must be able to work independently and manage/prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Must be able to work well with others in both support and mentorship roles
  • Must be committed to meeting project milestones and deadlines.
